The New England Review recently published this painting, and unless you’ve been to my house, you’ve probably never seen it. It’s called “Internal Extremities” (48×48 Oil on Canvas). I painted it back in 1998 after experiencing my first Mark Rothko exhibit at the National Gallery of Art. On the painting, I wrote “This is the way I remembered me.” I did this as a reminder to my future self that this one painting reintroduced me to who I truly am, and if I ever feel like I’ve lost my way again, art is my way back home. This painting is so intensely personal to me, I’ve only ever exhibited it one time, many year ago.
NER is a wonderful literary journal and they are using my painting to illustrate a poem by Edgar Kunz. Check it out!
